Indians have an added benefit when it comes to office wear. In addition to the regular pantsuits, shirts, and other formal wear, we have the choice of bringing a little ethnic culture and integrating it into corporate culture. A khadi saree is as acceptable as a pencil skirt with a blouse. The elegance that ethnic wear brings to the table is unparalleled. Now the question is what qualifies as office wear and what to wear to the office?
No Bling
An office is a place of formal dressing and the majority of ethnic wear has some sort of bling, in terms of the handwork done or some tassels. Office wear does not have to be boring, but at the same time, it can not be too extra. A very minimal amount of bling is still acceptable. Probably a plain Tussar Silk Kurti paired with a pair of oxidized earrings or cotton salwar suits make for a great office outfit!

Accessories
Office wear can be beautified with a couple of accessories. The most common ones include watches, bracelets and scarves. But Indian wear extends the opportunity to accessorize. You might not be wearing the latest designer sarees, but you sure can include the most contemporary ones with your online saree shopping and pair them with a set of hoops or a simple necklace. Another overlooked accessory is bags. When we say bags, we do not mean chic leather or resin carrier items with a tag. Make a statement with desi print totes like kalamkari, ikkat and many more.

Fusion Wear
Ethnic wear does not have to mean a typical Patiala Suit or a simple Salwar. Fusion with the modern and western designs can make them just perfect for office wear. The most common combination is a shirt blouse and a saree. Another great pairing is a dupatta scarf with a white shirt and trousers. Combine it with style, and you’re set to rule the office! You can get as creative as one can get, as long as you can pull it off with panache. We’re thinking Blazer with a plain georgette saree and a wrap-around cinching belt. What do you think?

Keep it Simple
Wearing a basic cotton or chiffon designer Anarkali suit can be admirable as office wear. Salwar suit design can be dynamic to suit all tastes and preferences. If you are the shy kind, you can wear a simple A-line kurta with palazzos. If you want to make a bold statement, you can wear a khadi saree with a black turtle neck and deep kohl-lined eyes. It is all about your personal style and choice.
